Mercure Sofia City

Landmarks

Description

Sofia is the capital and largest city in Bulgaria. Even though the name of the city means "wisdom" in Greece, the city is called after the basilisk "Saint Sofia"

In the capital, you can visit many theatres and cinemas as well as the National gallery. The city offers various archaeological, historical and ancestral landmarks. In many locations across the centre of the city, there are archaeological landmarks preserved and visible from Roman times.

Sofia constantly hosts many cultural, musical and sports events and the multiple theatres and galleries offer interesting and diverse programmes.

The city is among the preferred locations for congress tourism and expositions - many congress centres offer different options. The National Palace of Culture, for example, often hosts various business forums and expositions.
